Eleocharis wolfii A. Gray
Sedge- & grass-dominated swale-like strip 7 m wide,
perhaps mowed once ea. spring, between much
broader, regularly mowed roadside & adjoining swampy
woods of quaking aspen-red maple-jack pine. Surface
soil moist, slightly peaty,dark gray fine sandy loam,
prob. slightly acid. Carex stricta dominant, Glyceria
canadensis subdominant, forming a uniform meadow-
like cover 7 dm tall from which emerge widely scattered
plants of Osmunda regalis, Helianthus giganteus, &
Solidago gigantea, all direct assoc, of the
Eleocharis, along w/Thelypteris palustris,Carex
hystericina.Hierochloe odorata.Juncus effusus,
Anemone canadensis, Aronia melanocarpa.Potentilla
simplex, Rosa blanda, Rubus hispidus, Spiraea alba,
Lysimachia terrestris & Campanula aparinoides v.
aparin.
