Growing in a water-filled ditch made by the ruts of an old truck path (with about 150 tadpoles) at the edge of a brushy 21 year old old-field. About 20 clumps.

Culms green, bases red. Terminating in a round flower head. Very large for the species. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
