San Jacinto Valley, ca 2 air miles NE of Winchester and 0.5 mi W
of Ryan Airfield in the upper Salt Creek floodplain, at the N end of
California Avenue, N of Stetson Avenue, W of the Metropolitan
Water District canal. Near 33°44’20”N, 117°02’30”W. T5S R2W
S 1/2 N 1/2 sec. 13 and N 1/2 S 1/2 sec. 13. Elev. ca 1500 ft.
Seasonally flooded alkaline playa developed along indistinct runoff
channels of Salt Creek. The entire area used in the past as pasture
land and the eastern portion plowed in the. recent past.
Alkali grassland and herbland of Hordeum intercedens, Lasthenia
califomica, Lepidium dictyotum, Deschampsia danthonioides,
Plantago elongata, Plagiobothrys leptoclada, Frankenia salina,
Psilocarphus brevissimus, etc.
Rhizomatous perennial herb, small colony in deeper pool bed.
