  • Description

Tree 40-42 ft., spread 30 ft., trunk diameter 20 inches at ground. The trees in this grove are of all sizes up to 45 ft. They are mainly erect with straight central stems. There are lots of young trees. Although in lava rock, the soil seems thicker than many cypress areas, and the trees are thrifty. Many old dead trees are standing, apparently having died of old age. There is no evidence of recent fires. Nearly all trees are haeavily laden with cones. In no way do these trees remind one of the groves of Macnabiana [Cupressus macnabiana]. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
