tall, a few stems arching to 3 m.

The former Julian A. Steyermark property on
hilly Valparaiso moraine , the original
forest of Quercus alba, Q. rubra, £. macro-
carpa, ellipsoidalis» Tilia americana,
Acer saccharum, Prunus serotina, Ulmus
rubra, Carya ovata. From 19^1-1958 a large
number of herbs, shrubs and trees, many frpm
Missouri, were introduced by J.A.Steyermark;
essentially untended since 1958 but many
still persisting (Neviusia alabamensis,
Cornus florida, Asimina triloba, etc.)*
