The former Julian A. Steyermark property on
hilly Valparaiso moraine, the original
forest of Quercus alba, Q. rubra, Q. macro-
carpa, 3.. ellipsoidal is, T i 1 i a americana,
Acer saccharum, Prunus serotina, Ulmus
rubra, Carya ovata. From 1941-1958 a large
number of herbs, shrubs and trees, many from
Missouri, were introduced by J.A. Steyermark;
essentially untended since 1958 but many
still persisting (Neviusia alabamensi's,
Cornus florida, Asimina triloba, etc.)
