The New York Botanical Garden Plants of U.S.A. Rosaceae Malus baccata (L.) Borkh. Wisconsin, Richland Co., Lower Wisconsin River Wildlife area along Hwy. 60, just E of Richland/Crawford County line. 43°H’27”N, 90°39’55”W. alt. 205 m. Shrub 4 m. tall, probably planted, in area with native regeneration of deciduous forest species along with some planted ornamentals and species for “wildlife habitat”. Base of hills, above the floodplain. Only a few twigs still with leaves. Fruit light orangish yellow; an adjacent leafless shrub appears identical but the fruit red. 02812678
