Ada Hayden Herbarium Iowa State University Flora of Iowa Dulichium arundinaceum (L.) Britton Johnson County: T81N R5W Section 13 S2 NE4 NW4 NW4 A sandy pasture (owned by Howard Ciha) is approximately 5.5 miles east/northeast of Solon. It is a mixture of open sand prairie, scattered oaks, woods and shallow marshes. The soil is mapped as Chelsea loamy fine sand (63), an Alfic Udipsamment. The pasture is about 0.75 mile north of the Cedar River and on the Southern Iowa Drift Plain. Dulichium arundinaceum is infrequent at the south edge of the south marsh and in the floating mat in the marsh (the mat appears to have a peat soil). The collection comes from the northeast portion of the mat. Dulichium arundinaceum is associated with Carex sp. and Cephalanthus occidentalis. Mark J.
