Joaquin R. canyon (River 3400f)> 4 miles n.w. Mt. Tom
(9022* )* Forest stops at lava exposure which is mostly
on steep s.w. face where Artemisia tridentata covers lower
slope and Quercus thicket (mostly Q. vaccinifolia, some
chrysolepis) the upper; 2 small Pinus Jeffreyij in
Artemisia zone, 10 in Quercus; n.e. side granitic soil
carrying Yellow pine Forest slopes up close to top.
