ETHIOPIA, WELEGA, Gimbi. Planted, in roadside,
c. 9° 10' N, 35°50' E Alt: 1900m
Planted tree, about 8 m high, trunk about 40 cm in diam.,
forked repeatedly, pale brown. Shoots cicatriced, green in the
upper part. Leaf scars greyish. Leaves congested terminally.
Bases without sang-dragon, lamina leathery, smooth, bright
green, nerves not showing, edges pale.
Terminal inflorescence about 1.2 m long, axis about 10 cm in
diam. horizontally deflexed, orange yellow. Bracts pale straw
coloured. Immature fruits bronze, eventually dark plum-purple,
pulp orange (not showing), seeds white.
Woodsample shrunken in drying.
