Flora of the Paumonek Wetland, Long Island Duchesnea indica (Andr.) Focke NEW YORK, SUFFOLK CO.: Huntington Station, in the Paumonek Wetland, west of Walt Whitman High School. In both flower and fruit; flowers bright yellow; fruits cherry-red. Leaves roughly veined beneath. Spreading by thin stolons. Growing in an overgrown path like area, about as wide as a dump truck. Now regenerating in a near-monoculture of Aralia elata. In a disturbed area of an Oak-Hickory Mesic Woodland with Alliaria petiolata, Dryopteris, and Impatiens capensis. Matthew C.
