1/4 NW 1/4 sect. 28. West side of IL Route 2, west side
of the Rock River, 0.1 - 0.4 mile south of Mud Creek
(Mt. Morris) Road. Slopes south of Mud Creek.
Elevation ca. 686-738 feet. Loam and humus over
dolomite, on talus slopes.
Mesic upland forest with Acer negundo, Acer
saccharum, Fraxinus quadrangulata, Juglans nigra,
Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Quercus rubra, Solidago
flexicaulis, Tilia americana, Ulmus americana. Locally
common perennial 0.5 m tall, dioecious, most male
plants past flower; mostly at base of wet talus slopes;
fruit green.
