artificial levee, New Crystal Lake Hunt Club, about 1
mile north-northeast of Gulfport, west side of Crystal
Lake. Burlington 7.5’ quadrangle. Elevation about 530
feet. Alluvial soil, primarily silt.
Wet-mesic floodplain forest with a patchwork of
swamps, generally level, little shrub layer, trees widely
spaced; dominated by Acer saccharinum, Celtis
occidentalis, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Quercus
palustris, Ulmus americana; and Toxicodendron
radicans Vitis. Locally common in shallow water
