side of Dyer Bay, on east facing slopes along coast,
terminus of “Blue Trail”. 1200 feet south of Schooner
Point opposite Sheep Island. Elevation 0-40 feet.
Acidic humus, sand, gravel; granitic - gneissic outcrops
and glacial boulders, slopes.
Coastal evergreen conifer forest (boreal forest),
dominated by Abies balsamea, Picea rubens, Betula
papyrifera, Acer pensylvanicum, Vaccinium
angustifolium. Flowers yellow; very local perennial
herb with conspicuous stolons, leaves stiffly erect,
soft-fleshy; in exposed wet crevice of coastal ledge in
sand and humus at highest tide mark.
