Route 1. Elevation 200 feet. Gneissic granite ridge with
glacial sand and gravel soils with acidic humus.
Roadside, disturbed areas in spruce-fir-maple-birch
coastal forest. Flowers bright yellow, pistils green;
locally common perennial herb with fleshy roots.
