Mvosurus minimus L.

A sandy pasture (owned by Howard Ciha) is approximately 5.5 miles
east/northeast of Solon. It is a mixture of open sand, scattered oaks, woods
and shallow marshes. The soil here is Chelsea loamy fine sand (63), an Alfic
Udipsamment. The pasture is about 0.75 mile north of the Cedar River and on
the Southern Iowa Drift Plain.
There are thousands of genets of Mvosurus minimus in a mud flat on the south
side of the north marsh of 3 marshes. The mud flat appears to have been
flooded within the past 2 weeks. Mvosurus minimus is associated with
Ranunculus sceleratus and Taraxacum officinale.
