Alt.: 902m/296Qft. Canyon bottom and base of north-facing slope; clay-like soil, fine-grained and gray; riparian zone surrounded by coastal sage scrub and chaparral, with Euthamnia occidentalis, Juncus xiphioides, Schoenus nigricans, Populus fremontii, P. balsamifera, Lythrum califomicum, Andropogon glomeratus, Epipactis gigantea, etc. Scarce 2.4 m shrub.
