and Blackhawk Presbytery. Upper portion of ridge just
below The Castle, south of Mud Creek. Elevation ca.
722-738 feet. In pockets of humus.
Mesic dolomite slopes and cliffs, with Acer negundo,
Acer saccharum, Alliaria petiolata, Arabis shortii,
Quercus muhlenbergii, Q. rubra, Ribes cynosbati,
Solidago flexicaulis, Tilia americana, Ulmus
americana. Occasional perennial herb. Flowers red,
yellow within, pendulous, visited by hummingbirds !
leaves glaucous beneath.
