NEW YORK. CLINTON CO.: In second growth mixed
hemlock-hardwood and boreal forest in thin
soil on flat-lying limestone, ca 4 km
northwest of Sciota and 35 km northwest of
Plattsburg. Elevation ca 100 m.
Shrubs ca 2 m tall, with 2-4 (5) flowers in an
inflorescence. Petals white. Ovary-top
tomentose.
Three other spp. (A. laevis, A. canadensis. A.
spicata) and some hybrids in the vicinity.
