NEW YORK. CLINTON CO.: In second growth mixed
hemlock-hardwood and boreal forest in thin
soil on flat-lying limestone, ca 4 km
northwest of Sciota and 35 km northwest of
Plattsburg. Elevation ca 100 m.
Shrubs 3-4 m tall. Flowers 4-8 in loosely
erect racemes, or the raceme continuing in
the direction of the axis of the twig.
Petals white. Ovary glabrous on the summit
Three other spp. (A. bartramiana, A. laevis.
spicata) and some hybrids in the vicinity.
