Growing at the edge of a forest on moist to dryish soil over sandstone and sandstone conglomerate, with Acer pensylvanicum, A. saccharum, A. rubrum, Pinus strobus, Tsuga canadensis, Fag us grandifolia, and Dennstaedtia punctilobula. To the W. side of Alma Hill Rd., just north of and across the road from an ATT microwave/radio tower, around 0.75mi S. of the intersection with Ford Brook Rd. Alma Township, Alleghany Co.
