uppermost with orange-red streaking mostly in basal half;
anthers orange-red when fresh; common in mixed vegetation
along shoreline Of stock tank (dry during drought) on soils
mapped as deep, droughty, calcareous, moderately alkaline,
highly saline clay Paleustollic Torrerts (Catarina Series), on
minor drainageway on gently rolling landscape underlain by
Miocene mudstones and claystones of the Catahoula and
Frio formation (undivided), ca. 0.3 mi W of gate, ca. 7.2
airmiles N to NNW of jet. US Rt. 83 and R. M. 3187 (on W
edge of Rio Grande City), E part of Las Estrellas Preserve,
at N26°28’29.6”, W098°52’27.3”. Rio Grande City North
Quadrangle. Elev. 270 ft.
