Sect. 1 Ware (south), Dlinois Route 3 (FAP 312), west
side, north side of bridge over Running Lake Ditch, 1.95
miles south of junction with Illinois Route 146.
Mississippi River floodplain. Ware 7.5 minute U.S.G.S.
quadrangle. Elevation about 340 feet. Alluvial soil and
roadfill, disturbed wet loamy sand.
Floodplain forest and upland forest mix, including
Acer negundo, Celtis laevigata, Quercus spp., Morus
rubra, Liquidambar styraciflua, Ampelopsis spp., Ilex
decidua, Ulmus. Rather common small understory tree
3 meters tall; fruit green or tinted pale dull rose-purple;
leaves dark green above, pale glaucous beneath.
