section 30 NW1/4 of NW1/4. 44.56019°-44.56050°N, 104.47588°-
104.47384°W (±16-21 ft; determined by GPS; datum = WGS84).
Elevation 4780-4900 ft.
Mesic forest along creek with Betula papyrifera, Populus
tremuloides, Quercus macrocarpa, and scattered large Pinus
ponderosa, with scrubby understory and disturbed openings
dominated by Amelanchier alnifolia, Corylus comuta, Crataegus
chrysocarpa, Pmnus virginiana, and Symphoricarpos occidentalism
and cliffs and boulders of buff-colored, weakly calcareous to
calcareous (HCI+) sandstone of Jurassic Sundance Formation and
occasional rocks and boulders of harder, non-calcareoi^s (HCI-)
sandstone in open Quercus macrocarpa-Pinus ponderosa forest
with grassy understory and scattered Berberis repens and
Juniperus communis near top of steep slopes of WSW to ENE-
trending ridge above road.
Common. Large shrubs 2-4 m high.
