Open, sandy, weedy vacant lot, with scattered small
trees and much bare sand.
Single vigorous clone to ca. 8-10 m diameter and
with culms ca. 4 m tall; fully evergreen, with minimal
leaf browning after this winter; culms straight at base,
without crowded basal nodes, lacking a differently
colored "stripe" in the sulcus, culm sheaths
deciduous, culms developing blackish, blotchy
coloration on lower parts of some culms.
