25’ 59.6”, W053 ° 15’ 10.9 ’. Flat terrain. Sandy soils.Cerrado
vegetation.
OBS.Palm solitary to clustering, acaulescent or with a shoal reclined
trunks. LEAVES 3-4 in crown, spirally arranged and spreading. Leaf
sheath 6-12 cm long, pseudopetiole (leaf sheath plus petiole) is 6-30 cm
ong, with the true petiole 11-25 cm x 5-7 mm wide and 3-5 mm thick
with a fibrous leaf sheath, adaxially channeled and abaxially rounded.
Leaf rachis 47-72 cm long. 28-54 pairs of leaflets which are distributed
irregularly in clusters of 2A or singly along the rachis in various planes.
Basal leaflets 5.5-17 x 0.2-0.7 cm, middle leaflets 11-22 x 1.0-1.7 cm,
and apical leaflets 6-11.5 x 0.3-0.5 cm. New leaflets with a whitish waxy
bloom. Androgynous INFLORESCENCE is branched to one order,
prophyll measures (6) 10 cm x 1.5-2 cm; peduncular bract with a total
length of 19.5-39 cm including a beak of 0.5-2.5 cm and the expanded
or inflated part of the bract measuring 11-20 x 1.5-3.3 cm and with a 2.5-
4 cm perimeter and a 1 or less than 1 mm thickness; peduncle 6.5-26 cm
long, 0.3-0.6 cm thick and 4.5-12 cm long rachis, but the total
inflorescence from the basal primary branch to the apex measuring 7-16
cm. There are 5-10 rachillae or primary branches measuring 3-7 an long
at the apex, and 4-8.5 cm long at the base. Fruits 1.8 x 1.5 cm and brown
in Color.
