Habitat
Flat terrain, frequently inundated, and burned. Growing with: Quercus, Pinus, Acoelorraphe, Byrsonima, Clethra, Clidemia and many grasses and sedges.

Description
Shrb 2-3 m tall, leaves with characteristic lines parallel to midrib; flowers white.
