PLANTS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, U.S.A. CANNA GLAUCA L. Cannaceae RICHLAND COUNTY: Foliage mostly glabrous, deep green, not glaucous, although plants are more glaucous toward and within inflorescence; foliage commonly susceptible to leaf rollers by end of season; sepals dull, pale greenish, erect; petals pale yellow, prominently erect, approximately equal, about Vi (or slightly less) the length of 4 (always?) staminodes, which are deep, bright yellow, the most distal one heavily speckled with red; lamina of fertile stamen also speckled, but more finely; flowers at mid-afternoon without appreciable scent; grown in garden for nearly 30 years, and somewhat weedy; I remember planting rhizomes of C. “flaccida” from Jasper County in the early 1980s into this garden, now I am doubtful; backyard of residence, 3801 Duncan Street, Columbia.
