Liebre Mountains, Castaic Creek drainage from Fish Canyon
downstream to power plant, just north of upper end of Castaic
Lake. Near 34°36’00”N, 118°39’45”W. T6N R17W E 1/2 E 1/2
sec. 22; SW 1/4 sec. 23. Elev. ca. 1540 - 1640 feet.
Floodplain on flat valley bottom with gravelly benches of rocks
derived from sandstone, granitic, gneiss, etc. Surrounding slopes
steep, mostly sedimentary and metasedimentary substrates.
Vegetation on slopes mostly scrub of Salvia leucophylla, S.
mellifera, Eriogonum fasciculatum, and Artemisia califomica.
Riparian elements such as Salix lasiolepis, S. laevigata, S. exigua,
Baccharis salicifolia, and Populus fremontii developed along stream
channels, but most benches somewhat disturbed.
Shrub, flowers yellow.	Local along dirt road at edge of disturbed
floodplain.
