    Growing along Fourmile Creek (now mostly dry), at the cobbly edge of the creek in a Pinus - Acer rubrum - Carpinus caroliniana (M.C .Pace 1038) - Ostrya virginiana forest. With Spiranthes niklasii (M.C. Pace 1036), Botrychium (M.C Pace 1037), Lobelia cardinalis (M.C. Pace 1039), and Chasmanthium latifolium (M.C. Pace 1040), Smilax sp., Alnus serrulata, Salix sp., and Rudbeckia. Common.
