Ontonagon County, Michigan Juncus ensifolius Wikstrom var. ensifolius T52N, R37W, NE1/4 NW1/4 Section 12. 46.92144° N, 88.94357° W (WGS84). Locally fairly common along floodplain of cold stream. Wet, alluvial soil, in light to moderate shade. Appears entirely native, avoiding the densest vegetation and tending to grow close to stream (but see SG 860, MICH, OSH). Associates include Calamagrostis canadensis, Glyceria grandis, Eupatorium perforatum, E. maculatum, Verbena hastata, Impatiens capensis, Lycopus americanus, Scirpus cyperinus, Carex retrorsa, Juncus effusus var. solutus, and Mimulus ringens. Betula alleghaniensis, Tsuga canadensis, and Thuja occidentalis * dominate surrounding forest.
