    Swampy lowlands along Hudson River; young open woods (perhaps largely old fields) dominated by Fraxinus pennsylvanica; other trees, F. americana, F. ?profunda, Quercus bicolor, Acer negundo; shrubs dense with common Cornus obliqua, less Lonicera ?morrowi; sedges and grasses locally common in more open area.

    Small tree ca 5 cm dbh, 2-3 m tall; cut and sprouting along trail. No fruit.
