    South-facing hillside on calcareous soil; Fraxinus pennsylvanica frequent in slight ditch along lower edge of young woods in abandoned pasture with abundant Juniperus virginiana and Rhamnus cathartica; other woodies, Rhus glabra, R. typhina, Ulmus rubra, U. americana, Populus tremuloides, Carya cordiformis, Zanthoxylum, Lonicera ?morrowi, Vitis ?vulpina; on ground, Lotus corniculatus, Dactyklis, Bromus inermis, Daucus.

    Tree ca 5 cm dbh, 3 m tall; no dieback. No fruit.
