    Shore of Lake Champlain at base of rocky slope; edge of woods with Quercus rubra (common), Acer saccharum, Tilia, Pinus strobus, Betula papyrifera, Populus tremuloides, Fraxinus pennsylvanica (only scattered at edges), F. americana (upper levels); shrubs, Rhamnus cathartica (common), Amorpha, Prunus virginiana, Vitis riparia, Cornus obliqua; on ground in open, Apocynum ?cannabinum (common on shore), Melilotus, Potentilla anserina, Phalaris, Oenothera biennis; and common in shade, Thalictrum dioicum, Agrostis perennans, Solidago caesia.

    Tree ca 5 cm dbh, 3 m tall; no dieback. No fruit.
