Habitat
Marshy open woods and shrubs; only 1 tree seen; associates Ulmus americana, Acer rubrum, Betula alleghaniensis, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Ilex verticillata, Rosa multiflora, Lonicera ?morrowi, Lindera; on ground, Onoclea, Osmuna cinnamomea, Carex, Equisetum hyemale, Celastrus orbiculatus.

Description
Tree ca 3 dm dbh, formerly 15 m tall; >95% dead due to emerald ash borer; collected from basal sprouts. No fruit.
