  • Habitat

    Growing conditions here so exceptional it is worthy of note. Dome 100 ft above valley floor and 10 acres in extent built up by hot spring action. Hot pool at top is sunken below rim and not flowing. Most of dome kept moist and warm by hot water action. Few species of plants find foothold by boring into soft travertine. Only occurence noted in Nevada. Only soil a pulverized travertine.

  • Description

    Plant a hard round tight mat with long stout roots reaching into porous travertine built up by hot spring action. Flower unknown. Some specimens with a few seed pods. Largest size 10 inches in diameter. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
