The New York Botanical Garden Plants of BOLIVIA Bombacaceae Ceiba speciosa (A. St.-Hil.) Ravenna det. M. Nee, 2007 Depto. Santa Cruz, Prov. Ibanez, along Brecha 7, 3.1 km E of the Santa Cruz-Abapo highway. 18°08’13”S, 63°09’38”W. alt. 455 m. Flat, fine sandy soil. Mennonite and other properties, almost all cleared from chaco forest for fields and pastures. This remnant along road with a few native species remaining from original forest, but mainly planted to Leucaena leucocephala. Native tree 14 m. tall, the trunk swollen to 1 m. in diameter above a narrowed and buttressed base; bark coarsely furrowed. Flowers many, showy; petals pink distally, with yellow base, the base fading to white; filament column and anthers creamy white. Coll.: M. Nee , D. McClelland & S. Stem No. 55426 13 May 2007 02684188
