Description
Herb ca 1 m tall, rhizomatous with many upright leaves and flowering shoots. There seems to be two types of plants here. There are those with wider leaves with corrugations and no flowering spikes at all (Acorus calamus) and those with narrower leaves without corrugations and with fertile flowering spikes producing fruit (Acorus americanus). The plants producing flower and fruit spikes are all narrow-leaved. It is not clear whether Acorus americanus was planted. Acorus calamus was planted here. Both species appear to be spreading somewhat very locally. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
