closed to open Metrosideros forest w/ Cheirodendron over Cibotium and native shrubs, 50-70% cover of Metrosideros @ 12-15 m, Cheirodendron trigynum 30-40% cover @ 5-8 m; Cibotium chamissoi 50-80% @ 3-5 m; most common understory dicot is Broussaisia arguta, ground cover often thickly matted in Sphagnum moss. matting up caudex of Cibotium chamissoi.
