Stem 0.5-0.6 m long, 0.6 cm thick; intemodes 5-8 cm long, > stem diameter, green, smooth. Base of stem with few visible roots. Leaves 7 per stem; sheath 11 cm long, closed, with 0.5 cm long black spines; ocrea 2 cm long; petiole 8-9 cm long, section round; rachis 7-12 cm long; lamina pinnate, 25-30 cm long, 25-30 cm wide, flat, glabrous; pinnae 2 per side; basal pinna 19 cm long, apical pinna 18 cm long. Inflorescence interfoliar; prophyll 10 cm long, brown, herbaceous to papery, inserted 8 cm from base; peduncular bract 28 cm long, inserted 10 cm from base, brown, papery; peduncle 21 cm long, 0.2 cm wide; rachis 8 cm long, 0.1 cm wide; rachillae 4,2.5-6 cm long.
