Panama: Parque Nacional Chagres. Cerro Jefe. In
forest off road leading NE from TV towers, ca. 0.5 km
from towers. Elev. 900m. Tree 4m. Adaxial leaf surface
covered with minute pits, abaxial surface a much paler
green, seemingly glabrous but very minutely pubescent.
Flower buds contain a little watery liquid. Exposed
portions of petals pink-magenta, otherwise white. Fruit
also retaining liquid within bracts, calyx red. Uncommon.
