Secondary forest of Populus tremuloides, Abies balsamea,
with marshy opening with Larix laricina, Picea mariana.
Shrublets in understory, mostly less than 0.5 m. tall, but a
few to 1.5 m. tall; stems to 1.1 cm. in diameter. Voucher for
wood specimen, MADw. Twigs very slender but
surprisingly tough. Immature fruit greenish-white, some
held below the leaves, some above. A very few pale yellow
corollas.
