Prov. Imbaburra: On road to Cachaco, 9.3 km from
intersection that is 8 km N of Lita. Elev. 1240 m.
Hemiepiphyte, branches to 3 m long, horizontal. Young
branches very flattened with ant entry holes below nodes,
these remaining open on older branches, ants EtOH-
preserved. Primary-secondary marsupifom acarodomatia.
Pedicels and floral bracts reddish green to green;
hypanthium and calyx light green; corolla white to very
pale lavender-pink, more tinted marginally; stamens in
semicircle, filaments and thecae white, connectives pink;
style and stigma white, stigma slightly expanded; ovary
inferior, 6-celled; mature fruit bright red, lighter proximally;
seeds purple. Seeds sent to Atlanta Botanical Garden.
