BASTROP CO.: stems prostrate, forming loose mats; petals bright white; common in bare white sand in burned-over loblolly pine - post oak forest on soils mapped as deep, well drained, slightly acid loamy fine sand (Silstid Series, Arenic Paleustalfs) on gentle to moderate slopes along minor drainage on rolling landscape underlain by Carrizo Sand, 200-500 ft. SE of St. Rt. 21 near Hoppy Springs gate 0.4 roadmiles SW of jet. F. M. 1441 NE of Bastrop, at N30°0850.3, W097°1353.3. Bastrop State Park. Smithville NW Quadrangle. Elev. 470 ft. Area burned during Bastrop Complex Wildfire of September 2011. Trees mostly dead and soil erosion significant in immediate area. Associates included Gamochaeta purpurea, Phytolacca americana, Tradescantia subacaulis, Triodanis sp., stump-sprouts of Ilex vomitoria W. R.
