Shrublet to 3 dm tall; roots with odor of
wintergreen when crushed. Leaves revolute,
white pubescent beneath. Rachis & bracteoles
dark rose-red. Calyx rose-red. Corolla rose-
pink. Fruits red. Common locally in wet
areas.
