Site of proposed EcuaCorriente open-pit
copper mine, at end of newly built mine
access road. Substrate: mixture of
Hoi 1 in sandstone above and Zamora
batholith granite below. Dense, dwarf
forest on steep ridge; canopy 5-15 m
tall .

Small tree 4 m tall, in dwarf forest.
Leaves turn bright red with age, before
dehiscing. Corolla pale salmon-pink at ~
anthesis.
