Two miles west of Madrid across the
Des Moines River. The plants filled the
center of a shallow dried pond, forming
a tangled mass. Around the margin of the p
pond were Carex and Glycerla.
The styles were three-cleft. Foliaeeous
bractedsubtended the sheaths. The fall
culms were capillary but the earlier
dried culms of the spring growth have
been more robust*
