Climbing plant, to four meters or more, on
small tree. Climbs by means of 'small
rootlets up stem. Leaves opposite, with,
three or occasionally five main veins.
Most of the stem and petioles covered with
an indumentum of brown hairs. Sepals
minute, forming little more than a ring.
Petals usually five, pink at first and
becoming paler to white when open.
Stamens usually ten, inserted in a whorl
but placed asymmetrically to one side of
the flower. Flowers in terminal panicles,
with minute bracts at base of side branches
of inflorescence. Within each branch,
terminal flower most mature.
Rain forest, partially disturbed mostly
by occasional selective tree felling.
Amazonas : to tke north of Leticia and
Marco, near border with Colombia.
