W-facing pasture slope being invaded by Rosa multiflora, Robinia
pseudotic acia, Eleagnus umbellata, Lonicera maackii, L tatarica
and L rnorrowii and hybrids, plus native species Quer rus
?lliosoi-ioiis. Prunus serótina, Zanthoxylum americanum.
Tree 13 m. tall, 20 cm. in diameter, about 34 years old, not
shaded; bark finely furrowed, stnngy. Each specimen with a
rapidiv growing branch tip from upper canopy. Voucher for wood
-pecimen, MADw; wood typically aromatic; sapwood white;
heartwood reddish purple. “Cones” not abundant on this tree,
blue-glaucous.
