epiphyte on tree stump in forest shade;
corolla succulent about 1*2 ca* thick,
pinkish red beneath and white at the nar~
rowed apex; with a tart taste and said to
give energy when eaten*
Wet secondary forest about 15 m. high, with many epiphytes, with
frequent wind and rain from the Caribbean. Rio Vueltas, (upper Rio
Patria), eastern slope of Volcan Barba near the Continental Divide at
about 2000 m. altitude. Prov. Heredia. 10° 6'N. x 84° 4'W.
